A man has been charged with murdering the wife and two daughters of racing commentator John Hunt in a crossbow attack.

Kyle Clifford, 26, from Enfield, appeared at Westminster Magistrates’

Clifford is accused of murdering Carol Hunt, 61, and her daughters Louise, 25, and Hannah, 28, in an attack at their home in Bushey, Hertfordshire, on 9 July.

The court heard that Louise had been found tied up when officers attended the property.

Louise and Hannah had been shot with a crossbow and their mother Carol had been stabbed with a knife and suffered multiple injuries, the court was told.

Following their deaths, Mr Hunt, a Sky Sports and BBC racing commentator, said the devastation he and his surviving daughter Amy feel “cannot be put into words”.

Police were previously unable to speak to the suspect while he received treatment for an injury in hospital.

Detective chief inspector Nick Gardner said: “Our thoughts remain with the Hunt family and their loved ones as they continue to come to terms with their loss.

“Over the past couple of months, we have been working hard to gather as much evidence as possible and establish the full circumstances of what happened that day.

“Today, we have managed to secure charges against Kyle Clifford in connection with the murders of Carol, Hannah and Louise Hunt.

“Although it has taken some time to reach this stage, we can now move forward with the judicial process and seek justice for their family.”

A memorial service was held in Bushey for Mrs Hunt and her daughters Louise and Hannah a few days after their deaths, with friends saying they were “together in grief”.

Colleagues of Hannah Hunt paid tribute to the “fantastic therapist”, while a friend of Louise Hunt described her as “one of the loveliest girls” she knew and who “always had a smile and was very positive and hardworking”.
