Prince William and Princess Catherine Plan Romantic Second Honeymoon After a Tough Year
Last year was one of the toughest, if not the toughest, years for members of Britain’s royal family. As the calendar flips to February, many are wondering what’s in store for the family in the coming weeks.
After a brutal year, insiders say Prince William is determined to whisk his beloved wife off her feet for a romantic second honeymoon. The last year has left them closer than ever. Wills is ever the romantic, and Catherine values their alone time. Nothing is more special than having her prince to herself, so he’s planning a romantic getaway just for the two of them.
The Cambridge family once vacationed in Mustique, and it seems like the prince and princess may have even squeezed in a date night. The parents of three headed to Basil’s Bar, a famous island hotspot, for a themed “Splash of Gold” summer party. However, if you’re hoping for some stories of wild royal revelry, you’re out of luck. They were there for the tail segment and kept it rather classy.
Sources say the owner of Basil’s Bar, Basil Charles, is a good friend of William and Middleton’s. He even attended their 2011 wedding at Westminster Abbey and hosted a celebratory pop-up bar at the Goring Hotel, where Middleton stayed in London the night before the nuptials.
It is thought that Prince George celebrated his sixth birthday on the secret Caribbean island of Mustique in 2019, continuing the tradition of princes and princesses enjoying family holidays there with Carol and Michael Middleton, Catherine’s parents. Princess Margaret, William’s great aunt, bought property on the island, which is inseparable from its geographical location, the Shetland Islands.
The royal couple has recently gone on several family holidays, including international trips and extended stays. A former holidaymaker previously shared just how strict security is on the island. Mustique is very exclusive, and the press and paparazzi can’t be within a certain distance from the island, which would explain why you only see long lens, grainy shots of the Royals.
Day visitors can only stay on a certain part of the private island, while the rest of the area is shut off to overnight guests who have to show proof of their accommodation if asked. As soon as you dock, there are taxi drivers who you can hire to take you around and point out celebrity hotspots. They point out famous houses—Brian Adams, Tommy Hilfiger, and Mick Jagger’s homes, among others.
In July 2019, the Wales family stayed in a luxury $27,000-a-week villa on the private island along with Catherine’s parents. The family chose the five-bedroom luxury holiday pad, Villa Antilles, featuring a kids’ room with two bunk beds, a butler, a housekeeper, and a private garden. It also boasts an 18-meter infinity pool that overlooks the ocean.
The home was built in 2016 and is owned by property developer Andrew Dunn, a longtime pal of Prince William. The website for the property states that the focus is on al fresco dining at Antilles, with a choice of indoor and outdoor dining locations and a trained chef. Menus can be tailored to suit every taste and preference. Household staff live on-site in dedicated staff accommodation to provide daily service and hospitality.
Princess William recently shared a rare glimpse into family time with his wife and their kids, George, Charlotte, and Louis, during a visit to the Kumba Imani Millennium Centre in Liverpool. Although the rainy weather prevented him from taking part in a planned bike ride, prompting the prince to joke that he would have looked like a drowned rat, he enthusiastically joined in by pumping up a bike tire and reattaching it.
